The Bachrodt family opened their first Chevrolet dealership on December 1953 on Church Street in downtown Rockford. The patriarch of the family, Lou Bachrodt, Jr., was the owner/operator of the store.
In 1962, Bachrodt built the largest Chevy Dealership in the U.S. on Christina Street which today is the Eff School Bus Depot.
In 1980 we built the beautiful facility across from Cherryvale Mall, and have added several franchises to the Chevrolet car and truck line: Jeep, Isuzu, BMW and Volkswagen. The Bachrodt Family also has the Pontiac/Buick/GMC dealership on East State Street. Pat Bachrodt is the president of these two facilities.
In 1983, Lou Bachrodt III opened a Chevrolet dealership in Pompano Beach, Florida and in 1996 built a new Chevrolet facility in Coconut Creek. In 2001 we purchased a Chevrolet/Kia dealership in Ocala, Florida.
For the last 60 years, the Bachrodt Family has been a large part of the growth of our fine community. The family is very active today in all facets of business as well as civic support.
The family has served on many local boards to include Rosecrance, Motherhouse Crisis Nursery Fundraising Board, Family Advocate Board, Advisory Board of the Salvation Army, St. Elizabeth Board, United Way Board of Directors, and Founding Member of the Hope for Haitian Committee.
Every month, a local organization is supported by events held at the Cherryvale location which includes the largest single day toy drive annually supporting the Salvation Army.
