Ben Boss – Owner of Boss Carpet One, Dixon, IL and Boss Carpet One, Freeport, IL

Few and far between are families who have weathered the flooring industry as long as the Boss family. It is the running joke, that flooring in is their blood, as Ben is the 5th generation in the industry. Ben purchased two Illinois stores from his father John in 1995, after graduating from Northern Illinois University with a finance degree. In 2009, Ben joined the Carpet One Floor and Home cooperative and expanded the store to offer countertops, window treatments, custom cabinetry and more. Having won the local award, “Best Place to Buy Flooring” multiple times, this attests to the values Ben has instilled in keeping the store a family, locally owned business, with its main goal of putting customers first. Ben’s expertise and passion for flooring are evident through his dedication to his employees, customers, and the community.

William (Bill) Whiteley – Commercial Project Manager

Bill joined the Boss Carpet One team in 2011, stepping in to manage larger commercial projects for the business. Like Ben, Bill followed in his father’s footsteps within the construction industry and offers a wealth of knowledge in this area. Bill completes all of Boss Carpet One’s commercial estimating and is the acting project manager for projects such as educational establishments, healthcare facilities, airports (Chicago O’Hare), and other large corporations. Additionally, Bill serves on the Board of Directors for the non-profit Association of Subcontractors and Affiliates (ASA-Chicago), which provides networking opportunities, education and advocacy to subcontractors within the construction environment.
